Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Collection Agent to join our team. As a Collection Agent, you will be responsible for contacting individuals to collect outstanding debts or prepayment for deductibles due for upcoming appointments. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong negotiation abilities, and a customer service-oriented approach.
Duties:
- Contact individuals to collect outstanding debts
- Review schedules to identify which patients have deductible plans and review current status of deductible responsibility for the patient
- Contact individuals after reviewing upcoming schedules to collect deductible fees
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements with debtors
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism
- Update and maintain accurate records of all collection activities
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical billing, ICD-10 codes, and insurance claims is a plus
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred
- Previous experience in collections or a similar role is preferred
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform calculations accurately
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to negotiate effectively and handle difficult conversations with professionalism
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
